“A letter from Heaven” card from the sister of a hospice patient

Letter received by The Visiting Nurse Association of Erie County from the sister of one of their hospice patients who recently passed away.

Letter received by The Visiting Nurse Association of Erie County from the sister of one of our hospice patients who recently passed away.

We received this beautiful hand written note from the sister of one of our hospice patients. It is simply beautiful that someone would take the time during their unimaginable grief and write a card like this to us. It  thanks the Visiting Nurse Association of Erie County for our tender care when it was needed most. It makes us really appreciate the truly important work our nurses do everyday.

Here’s the text of the letter:

When tomorrow starts without me and I’m not here to see,

if the sun should rise and find your eyes filled with tears for me.

I wish so much you wouldn’t cry the way you did today,

while thinking of the many things we didn’t get to say.

I know how much you love me, as much as I love you.

And each time you think of me I know you’ll miss me too.

When tomorrow starts without me don’t think we’re far apart,

for every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart.

She included a very thoughtful note of thanks to the nurses and staff who cared for her sister when it mattered most.
