The Visiting Nurse Association of Erie County held its first annual Fall Prevention Seminar on Wednesday September 23rd 2015 (the first day of Fall) from 11-1 at its office at 2253 West Grandview Blvd in Erie PA. This open to the public event had stations for fall risk assessment that included blood pressure screening, gait analysis, TUG (Timed Up & Go) evaluation, home modification solutions and much more. Philips Lifeline was also represented with the highly effective LifeAlert products being showcased as solution for when falls happen but no one is around to help.
The event was well attended and very well received by the participants. The event also received excellent support from local media with Internet, Newspaper, radio and multiple news broadcast coverage as well. The Ready Steady Go Fall Prevention program continues and with preventable falls being the main reason seniors go to the emergency room there is still much work to do.
