ERIE, PA –The Visiting Nurse Association of Erie County has joined #GivingTuesday, a new national effort that will encourage people to think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. Coinciding with the Thanksgiving Holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #GivingTuesday will inspire people to take action to improve their local communities, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities and causes they support and help create a better world. Taking place on December 2, 2014- the Tuesday after Thanksgiving- #GivingTuesday will harness the power of social media to create a national movement around the holidays dedicated to giving, similar to how Black Friday and Cyber Monday have become days that are, today, synonymous with holiday shopping.
“Social Media has driven so much interest and traffic for giving especially around the holidays,” Said Dan Desrochers Director of Development at the Erie VNA “It’s great to see the hash tag #GivingTuesday develop to help local non-profits.”
Since 1906, the mission of VNA of Erie County is to provide quality, cost effective home health care and hospice services to residents of Erie County, Regardless of the ability to pay.
